A teacher who emigrated from the German Reich and, after a stopover in England and further studies in the USA, taught as a professor at Chapman University, a private university in Orange, California. He was an expert on the work and life of Albert Schweitzer and was the long-time director of The Albert Schweitzer Institute at Chapman University.
